…a Chicago drummer who began his musical career in the fifties
playing bebop, quit playing full-time in order to support a family,
but kept performing regularly. He later evolved an interest in free
improvisation, invented instruments, writing about music, and
visual collage. He collaborated with Bob Marsh when Bob was living
there, also Bob Falesch, who now lives outside Chicago, and myself;
many other I don’t know who came over to the house to play. When I
met him in the late 90’s he was writing one-of-a-kind collage
books and recording. He began putting it all together with video
some years ago, something akin to Svankmajer (the Czech surrealist)
but with a unique mix of sounds of himself and his friends.--Jack Wright 2007 (from ODDMUSIC experimental music and instruments)
